Centro Alessandro Sinatra
L’Associazione, ha partecipato alla costruzione del Centro ALESSANDRO SINATRA. Il Centro coordinato da sacerdote missionario, Padre Sibi Puthenpara, sorge a Vanaprastha situata vicino al villaggio di Kesaragere del distretto del Kolar nello stato di Karnakata a circa 50 km da Bangalore nel sud dell’India. Quest’area é una delle parti più povere e meno sviluppate. Nell’area circostante Vanaprastha si trovano 18 villaggi dove in ognuno vivono circa da 100 a 250 famiglie. Ogni famiglia ha di media da 3 o 4 figli. Qui non esiste alcuna tipo di assistenza sanitaria e tanto meno una qualsiasi forma di assistenza all’infanzia. La mortalità infantile é molto alto ed è in crescita esponenziale di anno in anno.
Ambulatorio
Adiacente al Centro Alessandro Sinatra è stato costruito un ambulatorio che offre assistenza medica ai bambini di Vanaprastha ed agli abitanti dei villaggi circostanti. L’Ambulatorio è diretto dal Dott.Manu, insieme al 2 infermiere. Ogni giorno vengono visitati circa 100 pazienti. Grazie alla generosità di una amica agrigentina dell’Associazione l’ambulatorio ha ora un’ambulanza di vitale importanza perché da la possibilità di raggiungere velocemente i villaggi circostanti e trasportare i pazienti all’ ospedale di Bangalore.
What has been accomplished already
The Association has helped in the construction of the Centro Alessandro Sinatra. The Centre, which is run by a Catholic priest, Fr. Sibi Puthenpura, is in the village of Vanaprastha near to the village of Kesaragere in the district of Kolar in the state of Karnataka about 50 km from Bangalore in the south of India. This is one of the poorest and least developed areas of India. In the area surrounding Vanaprastha there are 18 villages where there are approximately 100 to 250 families in each village. East family has at least 3 or 4 children. There is no medical assistance and no childcare. The infant mortality rate is very high and increases annually.
Medical Centre
Adjacent to the Centre a medical centre has been built which provides medical care for the children of Vanaprastha and the inhabitants of the surrounding villages. The Medical Centre is run by Dr Manu together with 2 nurses. Every day Dr Manu and his team visit approximately 100 patients. Thanks to the generosity of a friend of the Association from Agrigento, the Medical Centre now has an ambulance which is of great importance as it provides the possibility of transferring patients from the surrounding villages to the hospital to Bangalore.
VANAPRASTHA INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL
La Vanaprastha International School (la cui costruzione è iniziata nel 2004 è costituita da 3 piani più una mensa e un’ala in cui possono rimanere a dormire i studenti più grandi del Centro “Alessandro Sinatra”) ora accoglie 1600 alunni provenienti dai villaggi circostanti che raggiungono tramite gli scuolabus (per altre informazioni digita www.vanaprastha.org)
Con €100 annue è possibile mantenere un bambino a scuola il che vuol dire garantirgli un’istruzione e quindi un futuro migliore. Per Donazioni si potrà effettuare un bonifico presso qualsiasi banca e la causale dovrà essere

The Vanaprastha International School (the building was started in 2004 and now consists of 3 floors, a refectory plus a wing where the older students from the Centro “Alessandro Sinatra” can stay). At present the School has 1600 students coming from the surrounding villages. The students are collected and transported to the school by the fleet of school buses, for further information please see www.vanaprastha.org
Sponsorship for a child at the school costs €100 a year, this pays for a child to attend the school, including the cost of uniform, books and transport. This guarantees these children an education and a better future.
